Thank You For Coming To Work Today!

Just this week, I was reminded of a saying, I use to say back in my Parisian, Inc., HR days.

“Thank You for Coming to Work Today”

Back then, every morning during, “Showtime”, which was the daily freight and merchandise distribution (that’s called logistics for all of my “govcon” peeps), I would get on the store intercom and it went something like this…

“Good morning everyone, let me thank you for coming to work today. Now take a moment, Look over at your neighbor and say “thank you for coming to work today”…and then we would move on with our merchandising, morning meetings, and the rest of the day, etc.

I used it during early freight merchandising, morning store meetings, in corporate training sessions, when I walked into a meeting, etc., and it kinda stuck. It sorta of became my personal theme and brand.

Looking back, I now realize this simple saying, that was birthed out of a way to encourage people, actually, motivated, encouraged and changed me as a leader in a powerful way. It shaped me!

As leaders, it can be so easy to get caught up in the rush of the day, the stress of deadlines, etc., and forget that we’re all on this cruise ship together. Every person you come in contact with is someone special, is uniquely them and your encounter with them is not by accident. Choose to make that encounter a great one!

Let me empower and encourage you today and “Thank You for Coming To Work Today”!

Remember, motivate someone in a positive way today, thank them for coming to work today, and watch out for skunks 🦨.
