The Iconic Ryman Auditorium

Last Saturday I visited one of my favorite cities, Nashville. After talking myself down, a few times, from thinking I suddenly needed a new pair of boots (or 2 at 50% off) and a new stylish cowboy hat, like Tim McGraw wears, I found myself passing by this iconic building. While still debating with myself about those boots and stylish cowboy hat, I just had to pause in front of this place.

Built in 1891 as the Union Gospel Tabernacle (you can google it’s history), this building has experienced some of the greatest music, performers, fans and artists alike, all within its walls.

If you have ever been and sat on those historic wooden church pews, you know, your butt is gonna hurt by the time the show is over. But it’s really all about the experience with the people around you, in that building, that makes it all worth the while.

Every time I walk past this building, I am reminded of a dream I had as young performer, the hopes of performing on the stage of the Ryman and the Grand Ole Opry. Once life’s reality set in, I soon learned, that dream would probably never happen, at least not in that way.

No doubt, this buliding is famous and iconic.

So did the music make the buliding “famous for” or did the building make the music “famous for”? Or maybe, could it be the “impact” of the people that made this buliding “famous for”?

As leaders, mentors and colleagues, it’s the “impact” we have on one another that make us…”famous for”.

What type of impact will you be “famous for”?

Happy Weekend!

Remember, motivate-impact someone in a positive way today, be “famous for” it, go buy those boots (and bring me the second pair), get that stylish cowboy hat, and watch out for dragons.
